Lovely Fishing!!

Good Angling at Kalimbeza Rest Camp and Fishing Safaris!
We will not talk about the Boks (Springbucks) loosing the last Rugby game to the British & Irish Lions...... Oh well, at least they didn't leave empty handed and we still took the series!!

Our day at Kalimbeza had been quite successfull, with catching some very nice barbel from the side. While some just relaxed, I had a laugh at Wouter - We were sitting a few feet away from the rod, which was in a stand with the bait in the water. The barbel bit, and the rod sang. He stood up, and as soon as he was up, the rod didn't move at all. The moment he got seated comfortably, the reel started singing and the rod end dipped. This stand-up-sit-down happend about 5 times! (will not mention some of the words that was used...) But he got it in the end!

The threespots started biting for the year ( they had been breeding), and Mr McDougle as I call him, Dougie Wegener - owner of Kalimbeza Fishing & Restcamp, went out on the boat caught some nice ones. He kept a few - the Threespot is a very nice eating fish, with very few bones if fillited correctly. He gave us one fish's fillets which we had for dinner. In the photo at the bottom, he is holding a beautiful Nembwe, extremely good for eating as well. Well, no tiger fish caught today... The season is not quite right.

Friday 10 July we had a bring & braai (BBQ) at Protea Hotel's camping site for the Nwanyi Angling Club to discuss the coming Zambezi Classic Open that will be held in August. This annual competition is the single biggest event in the Caprivi, and the biggest angling competition held in central southern Africa - www.caprivi.biz/fishing.html for more info!!
